In this month of peace, we continue to direct our prayers and efforts to thinking of others before our own needs, and each day brining joy through our words and actions. This week has been challenging in the number of our school community who are out due to either quarantine as a close contact, or who are experiencing symptoms themselves. At these challenging times, we are reminded how blessed our school community really is!
As the world moves through the months of the Covid Pandemic, we need to continue to stay informed of the best practices to stay as healthy as possible.
We hope your holidays have been full of love and laughter, fun, and festivity! With great hope that the new year ahead will be one of the best so far, let us dedicate ourselves to continuing safe protocols.
Our youngest learners were honored to set up the Nativity scene in our front lobby. The Pre-School students read the book- The First Christmas, a Nativity Puzzle Playbook by Allia Zobel-Nolan, and then set up our Nativity creche. They did a lovely job!
We hear each morning of the many names for Jesus in the Bible. How we speak to Jesus in our prayers is a personal message. How we treat ourselves and others is a living prayer that can make our world wonderful for all. Our students are encouraged to give the gift of themselves by sharing their time and talents with others. This season of Advent calls us to prepare for Christmas both inside and out.
We continue to pray each morning for each other and all around us. We are offered the opportunity to make each new day start with a time to remember our blessings with gratitude Today, your generosity has raised our food items and personal products donation drive to 712! Given this extraordinary display of generosity in this month of gratitude, the students will enjoy another dress-out day when 800 is reached. This collection will be shared with St. Joseph’s Food pantry and the Martin Luther King Center. Thank you, Senor Vidotto and the Student Council in collecting and packing the items.
We are grateful for your sacrifice and welcome your story. If you would like to share your thoughts on your choice to serve your country, we will be honored to read these to our student body on Wednesday, November 10.
We continue to pray for you and your families as we move toward November together. We have had an exciting week together to end this month! The excitement for Halloween fun today being interrupted by our Wednesday power outage from the first nor’easter of the season put us all in a race to stay on pace Thursday and Friday. The students and teachers jumped right into their lessons and carried on.
We hope this fall season is wonderful for you and full of the beauty of nature around us on Aquidneck Island. Our students reflect each morning in prayer on the many blessings God has provided, and the many opportunities we have each day to reach out to others. Our Student Council, led by Eighth grade officers Katie, Iñaki, and Quebel, are encouraging the school in our annual canned food collection for those in need. As recess monitor, I have witnessed daily acts of kindness in including others in play. Students moving quietly in the halls and helping others in class contribute to our kind school culture. We live our values of courage and hospitality.
Let's get into the spirit of the season! On Friday, October 29, students may dress out in the colors of black, orange, and purple! Individual classes will inform you of the party arrangements! On Saturday, October 30, we have a TRUNK OR TREAT idea!
This week our Feinstein Kindness tree is being created in the front lobby. Each class is contributing leaves on which acts of kindness are recorded, and they are filling up the branches! This month’s value of courage, and our daily prayers, inform our students to reach out to others with kindness and compassion. The daily stories of the saints inspire us to make our world a better place! You are always in our prayers and praise!
This week has brought some firsts to our student’s learning at All Saints. Our students brought in loved pet pictures for a first St. Francis blessing of the pets in photographs. Our first band lessons were taught this week. We had our first fire drill of the year, and all classes cleared the building in under three minutes. And, our Eighth-Grade students presented their officer candidate speeches to the voting classes for the first time this year. We applaud all of our students who have the courage to try something new, to make a new friend, and to believe they can achieve their dreams. At AS²A, every student is called to try a “first”!
Our AS²A day begins in prayer and reflection of how we can treat ourselves and others with compassion. Our September monthly value of hospitality is lived through the laughter and inclusion of all students at play and work. The Middle School is identifying ways in which they can be of service to others in their world, and all grades are reminded to be thankful for their many blessings.
Today marks the end of the first full week of school. You have done a great job in daily monitoring your child’s health at home in preparation for a busy day of learning. Please remember to send students in with a full reusable water bottle. The children are enjoying their nutritious foods for snacks and lunch.
Thank you for navigating our traffic pattern through the drive this week, and a big Thank You to Senor Vidotto for his generosity in overseeing the flow. He reports that you have been patient and considerate with each other, wonderful!
When you arrive at the drive up to school tomorrow, please wait at the green signs until you are waved on to proceed to the school parking lot. Drop off at the cones for students in grades Kindergarten-Grade 8 remains the same, as does the drop off for Pre-K at the double doors. Pre-School will now drop off at the front door in the morning and will pick up at dismissal at the double doors as before.
We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather these days with the unplanned time with your children. This Labor Day weekend All Saints is most grateful for the labors of Fr. Codega and Mello’s Construction to restructure our school drive over the creek that runs down the island. The volume of rain flooded the area and washed part of it away. Traffic through this area will be directed, and we appreciate your patience and responsible action at arrival and dismissal when following this guidance.
New families and returning families, I send you mid-summer greetings! We are one month away from the first day of the 2021-2022 school year on August 31. Have you been blessed with great summer memories so far? I hope all of you have been in touch with your loved ones, and had a chance to be excited, surprised, rested, happy and bored- at least once
