STEAM night was another successful event! Students loved presenting their experiments and learning to parents and friends. Our smallest scientists shared their experiments. Preschool students learned how plants drink water and Pre-K students tested how eggs react to different solutions as they awaited the hatching of their chicks
What a wonderful wacky Walkathon we had! Thank you to our amazing PTO board for planning another wildly successful event! Students, teachers, and parents enjoyed walking the campus together to raise money for All Saints Academy. Students got a kick out of earning necklaces and bracelets with each lap and running through the bubble machine to celebrate reaching the finish line!
We are so grateful for the many “Thank you” messages shared with our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. Your emails and handwritten notes were very thoughtful and meant a great deal to our teachers.
This week we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! The faculty at AS²A is the best around. Please take a few minutes to help us celebrate our teachers by flooding their inboxes with messages of appreciation. A quick thank you means a lot!
We are excited to spread AS²A spirit this week! Each day we celebrate with a different theme: Monday - Pajama Day Tuesday - Mismatch Day Wednesday - Patriotic Day Thursday - Jersey Day Friday - Class Color Day
This Holy Thursday, students finished Lenten lessons and projects as they prepared to celebrate Easter with family and friends. Our daily reading focused on Jesus washing the feet of the apostles as a demonstration of God’s humble love. Through this action, Jesus asks his disciples, and through them, all of us, to take care of others as he has taken care of them. His wish was that their love for Jesus would naturally spill over into wanting to be like him in caring for others. May your Easter gatherings be a celebration of Jesus’ unending love and care for all of us and our call to serve and help others.
Congratulations to the Middle School students who represented AS²A at the Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair this past weekend. Six middle schoolers presented their project to the state judges on Saturday and to the public on Sunday. On Wednesday, students received their awards at CCRI in Warwick. Congratulations to:
As we journey through the beautiful season of Lent, our students continue to live our AS²A mission by focusing on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Pre-K students, playing the roles of Jesus, his followers, and his enemies, are enjoying rehearsals for their annual Passion Play. The kindergarten and first grade classes begin each morning reflecting on their efforts to help others. After, they color a windowpane on their individual Lenten Good Deeds stained glass window. Second graders are engaged in quiet prayer and reflection in the chapel. Third grade students celebrate each act of extraordinary goodness practiced among their classmates by removing a toothpick "thorn" from Jesus's grapevine wreath "crown". Students in fourth grade have composed individual Lenten prayers reflecting on sacrifice, promise, and hope. Fifth graders are adding another memory verse for Lent - “Take up your cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:25). Sixth grade students are creating a Lenten Book of Knowledge by summarizing daily Lenten podcasts on the Mass, while seventh graders read and complete the Gospel of Luke workbook and eighth grade students read and discuss the Gospel of Matthew. Teachers, students, and staff continue to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by spreading acts of kindness and truly respecting one another’s gifts and talents.
Well, March surely came in like a lion! We thank Miss Richardson’s First Grade class for securing the snow day by participating in the New England traditions of wearing their pjs inside-out and placing a spoon under their pillows. For some of our families, the snow day was a first. We heard many students say things like, “I haven’t seen snow in so long!” Children shared stories of snowman building and sledding!
Love was in the air this week as we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a dress down day, classroom parties and activities. The Primary Team students participated in an afternoon of Valentine themed STEAM challenges. Students rotated through three heart themed classroom activities putting the Engineering Design Process into action.
Catholic Schools Week was an amazing celebration of our faith, academic excellence, and service to others. We opened the week with a celebration of Mass in the multipurpose room with Father Frank O’Loughlin. Father Frank’s homily resonated with all as he shared how his Catholic school education impacted his faith life. Thank you to the sixth-grade students for hosting this celebration of faith and to the sixth and seventh grade students for sharing their musical talents in the choir.
The annual AS²A Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, January 18. We are proud to announce sixth-grade student Anne Tauer as the Champion Bee and seventh-grader Rose Morrissey as First Runner Up. Both girls will represent AS²A in the Regional Diocesan Spelling Bee held on February 1 at St. Mary’s School in Cranston. Congratulations and best of luck to our Super Spellers!
The excitement is building for Catholic Schools Week. Students are busy researching for their History Night at the Museum projects. Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 2nd at 6:00. All students and families are invited to attend. Don’t miss the fun!
If you are a sports fan, or live with one, you may have seen the College Football Championship game on Monday night pitting the University of Georgia Bulldogs against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. The “Dawgs'' prevailed thanks to the help of offensive lineman and ASA alumnus, Xavier Truss, #73. Xavier visited AS²A in May of 2022 and was incredibly kind and patient answering the many questions from the awe-struck students.
Happy New Year! Classrooms are alive with talk of new beginnings and resolutions. Let’s all promise to welcome this new year with a happy spirit and encourage each other to share kind messages with our classmates, read more often, listen well to our teachers, and see the good in others.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Everywhere we go we hear and see signs of the season…handcrafted snowflakes hanging from the rafters, Christmas tree lights flashing through classroom windows, the hum of Silent Night streaming through the halls, and the joyful chatter of the children as they anticipate Christmas fun!
We began the week with an all-school Advent prayer service in the lobby. Surrounding the Advent wreath, we heard readings about hope and light presented by the 8th graders. Lighting the first candle of the season, all students focused their prayers and thoughts on preparing their hearts for the coming of Jesus by sharing acts of kindness with their classmates.
As we walk through the halls and classrooms of All Saints, we are greeted with a flurry of November-themed activities that reflect the exceptional creativity and ingenuity of our amazing staff and students. We are truly blessed!
Our AS²A spirit of service was in the air this week. Generous students and families added to our Thanksgiving food drive and our student council representatives reported 436 cans collected to date! This school community project will benefit the St. Joseph’s food pantry and continues through next week. Thank you for sharing your blessings with others.
This past Saturday, the spirit of AS²A was in full force at this year’s Trunk or Treat. Thank you to our PTO for planning a successful event featuring eighteen creatively decorated trunks and dozens of trick-or-treaters! A great time was had by all - more fun-raising events coming soon!
