Dear AS²A Families,
Unfortunately, the cold has been keeping us indoors for recess, but students have enjoyed the opportunity to learn and play board games. A portion of the Read-a-thon funds have been allocated to indoor recess games and activities to continue the fun. Thank you again to all who participated in this fundraiser!
Speaking of fun, do you have a hobby or interest that you would like to share with our students? We are always looking for ways to add afterschool activities to our calendar. Chess? Photography? Gardening? Something else? Let us know if you would like to share your talents!
Boxes of cereal are piling up in the lobby! Please remember the hungry families of our community when you are shopping this weekend. Our friends in need at the Martin Luther King Center and St. Joseph’s Food pantry look forward to our annual donation. Please send in your cereal boxes by Friday, January 24th to help us reach our goal of 300 boxes!
The excitement is building for Catholic Schools Week, an opportunity to celebrate our faith, community, students, teachers, and learning! You will hear more about the festivities, but mark your calendars now for Thursday, January 30th at 6:00. All students and families are invited to attend History Night at the Museum, a MUCH anticipated highlight of Catholic Schools Week - don’t miss this AS²A tradition!
Please also add our Catholic Schools Week Mass on Monday, January 27th at 9am at St. Lucy’s Church, to your calendar. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Staff Appreciation Luncheon planned by the PTO for Friday, January 31st is off to a great start! Please use this Sign Up Genius link to contribute. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help with the festivities!
To further enrich digital literacy for our Middle School students, they have participated in a pilot curriculum developed by MIT entitled "RAICA, Responsible AI for Computational Action". The goal of the curriculum is to grow students' skills as informed and ethical producers of AI tools and technology. This year they have been involved in the Social Robot component of the curriculum and today, the MIT curriculum developers visited with the students to see their work and gather their feedback on the curriculum. It is so great for our students preparing for the Science Fair next week, to see real world applications of experimentation and research by these leading educational researchers in action!
Safety Reminder: The cold temperatures require students to come straight inside through the front doors in the morning. To facilitate this process, please utilize the entire sidewalk straight-a-way to drop off students. If you must come into the building with your student, please park in a parking spot. Thank you!
