Parent Update
Hello All Saints STEAM Academy Community!
New families and returning families, I send you mid-summer greetings! We are one month away from the first day of the 2021-2022 school year on August 31. Have you been blessed with great summer memories so far? I hope all of you have been in touch with your loved ones and had a chance to be excited, surprised, rested, happy and bored- at least once!
How are your readers progressing? Hopefully, there is daily sharing time during which they can read to you- and you to them! Road signs, stop signs, stories, magazines, and mail are all reading opportunities. Makeup stories with your children, and watch their creativity grow!
I love to read. My town library is one of my favorite places to visit weekly. I can travel to other worlds with a good book, and I learn that everyone has an interesting story to share. Reading and writing are right-brain activities that strengthen our creativity and help to express our emotions. This year you have heard about social and emotional learning in education. This focus has increased because of the time our students were distance learning apart from their peers in classrooms. Our abilities to be touch with our thoughts and feelings, and to relate to others responsibly and with compassion, are strengthened when we learn about others. Reading provides this insight.
All Saints STEAM Academy presents your learners with many opportunities to advance their social awareness and relationship skills while improving their decision-making to best manage their time and efforts. These SEL competencies help students become more self-aware, and in the process, they become a self-starter, able to take on academic challenges with energy and resilience. Our STEAM challenges and many projects enable our AS²A students to work both as a team with their peers and independently to accomplish success!
As we move closer to school opening, we will update any changes made to our School Safety Plan. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to keep our students safe and healthy throughout the summer and this coming school year!
