Dear AS²A Families,
We are excited to spread AS²A spirit this week! Each day we celebrate with a different theme:
Monday - Pajama Day
Tuesday - Mismatch Day
Wednesday - Patriotic Day
Thursday - Jersey Day
Friday - Class Color Day
It’s not too late to join the fun - send in your form with your child on Monday.
As a component of our Religion lessons, students learn to be stewards of God's beautiful earth. As residents of the Ocean State they also learn how to enjoy, protect, and sustain our oceans. On Wednesday, Sail Newport representative Cortney Kingsley joined AS²A for an assembly to introduce our students to The Ocean Race, a race in which the world’s top sailing teams circumnavigate the planet powered only by the wind. As they race, the sailors collect ocean data in an effort to educate others about the threats to our seas, including dumping of plastics, carbon emissions, and climate change. The goal is to empower children to make changes to help support our oceans. Our students were thrilled to live chat with one of the sailors, Justine Mettraux, from 11th Hour Racing Team, and learn about life on the water. Our students were able to ask questions and will use the knowledge gained during the assembly to better understand their field trip to Ocean Live Park in Fort Adams on May 17. Grades K-8 will spend the day learning about sailing and ocean sustainability.
Mark your calendars and get ready to lace up your sneakers for our annual Walk-a-thon on Friday, May 19! This healthy fundraiser encourages students to get active while raising money to support our programming. Look for more information coming soon!
We are so proud of sixth graders Leo Eder and Anne Tauer and seventh graders, Emma Lavery and Rose Morrissey for their selection to the 2023 Catholic School Honor Band Concert. The concert, being held Saturday, April 29 at Quincy Catholic School Academy, represents the “best of the best” musicians from area schools. Thank you for sharing your musical talents!
Congratulations to third-grade student, Michael Loras, who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this weekend at St. Elizabeth Church in Bristol. May you always feel surrounded by His love and peace!
Don't forget to send in your registration for AS²A Summer Camp! The camp is filling quickly. Please contact the office for more information.
