Dear AS²A Families,
This week, we joyfully celebrated the 100th day of school, a milestone filled with laughter and creativity! Our Preschool and Pre-K students stole the show, dressing up as 100-year-olds with canes, spectacles, and the most adorable gray hair. It was hilarious to see our usually energetic little ones, who normally skip through the hallways with boundless enthusiasm, shuffling along with great “old-age” determination. The older students couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight, adding to the fun and festive atmosphere. It was a wonderful reminder of the joy and imagination that make our school community so special!
Today, you will receive mid-trimester progress reports that provide a valuable opportunity to reflect on student growth and set goals for continued success. These reports serve as a checkpoint, allowing students, parents, and teachers to celebrate achievements while identifying areas for improvement. They are not final grades, but rather a tool to support learning by encouraging open communication and proactive steps toward academic progress. We encourage families to review these reports together, discuss strengths and challenges, and reach out to teachers with any questions. With a growth mindset and a strong partnership between home and school, we can help every student reach their full potential and make the most of the trimester ahead!
This week’s daily readings shared over the intercom focused on the gifts each person brings to the body of Christ, the church. One of the many gifts we share with others is our gift of service. Last week, our students and families donated over 316 boxes of cereal. Did you wonder how many bowls of cereal were provided to our friends in need? According to our 7th-grade Math students, the 316 boxes provided 2,952 bowls of cereal! Add the 244 boxes of individual servings and we provided 3,196 bowls of cereal! What an amazingly generous gift!
Congratulations to 8th grader Salvador Pérez-Echevarria who earned the 4th highest score in the state on the High School Placement Test. This test of Math and English skills is taken by students around the state who would like to attend a diocesan Catholic high school. Salvador’s score earned him a scholarship to The Prout School. We are so proud of you, Salvador!
Have you ever wondered about the many antennas on the roof of All Saints? Those antennas were placed years ago so that we could be the first school in RI to communicate with astronaut Jeff Williams aboard the International Space Station! Next week, All Saints and volunteers from the Newport County Radio Club will host the School Club Roundup. Students in grades 5-8 will use that equipment next week to learn about Ham Radio communications and participate in the School Club Roundup contest where students log the number of contacts made with schools around the country and the world! The guidance from the Newport County Radio Club members, offered exclusively to All Saints students, will help our students learn about wireless communications, have fun using the ASA call sign, and explore new tech and skills. Please view this PDF for more information.
Reminders:
Re-enrollment forms for the 2025-2026 school year will be delivered to families the week of February 10th (last week’s Scoop mistakenly noted the wrong date). Forms will be due March 14, 2025. Please keep in mind:
In order to apply for tuition assistance, families must complete a tuition assistance application and submit it to our needs-assessment provider, FACTS Management
Financial awards are not renewable, so families must re-apply each year
Financial assistance may also be available to you through your parish. Once you complete your FACTS application, contact your parish for more information about their requirements for additional subsidy
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office. We are happy to help!
