Parent Update
Dear Parents,
Our Advent wreath is outside the school chapel with the first candlelit. We will say the second Advent weeks prayers on Monday and light the second candle. As we wait for the birth of our Savior, the manger bed is empty outside in the front lawn stable scene. The students remember that it is not yet Christ-mas, the birthday of Jesus. They have learned that each good deed they do can be like a piece of straw in the manger bed, to make baby Jesus more comfortable as he comes into the world.
There are so many beautiful and meaningful traditions at this time of year we can all celebrate. Perhaps your family has precious traditions you look forward to each season. If you are apart from loved ones this year because of safety precautions in this Covid-19 time, bring the joy of celebration perhaps on zoom time. Perhaps you can celebrate them, on a smaller scale, with your loved ones you are with. Perhaps you will create new traditions to continue forward. It is our attitude of joy and gratefulness that will make everyone around you feel the season’s spirit!
The first trimester of the school year ends on December 11. This year, the report card grades will be published online the following week. It is important that you sign that you are aware of these report card grades. Your students should know at all times where they stand with their progress, our AS²A teachers make every effort to grade work within a reasonable time so learning can be gained from these tests and assignments. I share with the students that the report card is their paycheck for the hard work and efforts they have put forth. Your sacrifices to place your children in our AS²A learning community should be rewarded with a report card that shows consistent effort. If our students are proud of their accomplishments, that is the best reward we can gain.
Hopefully, our AS²A sportswear will arrive in time for Christmas break- we are crossing our fingers! Students may wear the hoodies to school over their vest or sweater. Other hoodies and jackets should not be worn in school.
Thank you for consistently following our school safety plan- completing the daily attestation survey; providing your students with water and nutritious foods and ensuring that good choices are made in your time apart from AS²A. We appreciate each and every day that the learning process helps our students achieve understanding.
God bless you,
Mrs. Brouse
